History

Aims

The Key Stage 3 History curriculum aims to give our students gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Our curriculum will also cover the Islamic History of Europe and will take the students on a journey from Islamic Spain, through the Ottoman Empire to the influence of Muslims in Britain.

The programme at Key Stage 3 ensures that all students:

  • Know and understand significant aspects of the history of the wider world: the nature of ancient civilisations; the expansion and dissolution of empires.
  • Gain historical perspective by placing their growing knowledge into different contexts.
  • Understand historical concepts and use them to make connections, draw contrasts, analyse trends and frame historically-valid questions.
